Discussion boards not updating properly
Published on March 2, 2005 By Chris TH In Stardock Support General
Hopefully the title explains the basic point!

Using SDC to view discussion groups, after (say) marking all messages read after a while some threads update and they are duly highlighted, but the new (recent) comments are not visible. The updated 'replies' count may say eg 12, but the latest visible reply is eg #7 which is the last reply as-at when I first openend SDC->discussions.

Is anyone else seeing this? SDC is version 2.03c.318 build 80.

That's a thought. Never bothered with the betas much in the past...

Any major 'gotcha' with the beta? Ahhh, what the hell, let's just put it in the dish & see if the dog licks it up

That's exactly why I stopped using SDC for the forums, since the new site came online. Haven't tried it recently........ maybe I should.

Well, the 'dog' is happy with the beta so-far... Although it hosed SDMCP for some reason during the install.

That's exactly why I stopped using SDC for the forums

I find the mail/newsreader style of browsing the forums much more intuitive than the web interface. My home connection is 64kbps ISDN so continually hitting the link/back buttons in the browser (with the resultant delay while the pages reload) was a pain.

FWIW

Yeah, on further investigation, it's a bit temperamental.

Particularly if you leave SDC running in the BG for a while, I'm finding it then has difficulty just bringing up the articles - long delays, and not finding some replies. Although I guess it could be a site issue?

Although the updating seems to be working reasonable reliably for me.
